“Altered Landscapes”… created by nature

As everyone is probably aware we had a pretty severe storm up this way yesterday. The power has just been restored at our place so the net is is back on again. It was a thunderstorm which produced a spectacular dust cloud and then nailed us with cyclonic winds and rain. Bloody scary stuff when there are sheets of corrogated roofing iron being thrown around like tissues. these images are only a small few I managed to snap about 15 minutes after the event as we had a bit of damage at home to contend with. The last couple are of the clean we did this morning after our huge pine tree decided our outdoor area needed an upgrade. Must thank the Merv man for coming around and helping out with the whole deal, between us we had it under control in around three hours, what a team.

He looks like he’s having a bit of a snooze – dreaming of the Dunsborough Bakery no doubt.

Being a rigger I’m just wondering you rigged up the tree…….and that powerline looks awfully close!! Do you have the JCB in the garage for special occasions Merv?
Glad you’re all ok Hodgy, but looks like there’s a bit of work to do. Know any good boileys in Northam??

I’m driving Jamie and watching the power lines.

You will have to ask the rigging question to the ground guy !!!!

I only take the JCB out on the occasional Sunday Jamie,

Look like the rest of that tree is going to have to go now. With one less limb it might be cheaper to get rid of now though?!

Where are you located Hodgy ?
Plenty of damage there mate ! The first two images in particular, I hope you didn’t suffer too much structural damage. I ‘watched’ some of the storms on radar/sat pic etc and just read a couple of reports from them this evening – plenty of strong outflow winds !
The trough has been particularly active again this evening right down through the WA, I think Stephen Williams may have got some action in the Pilbara even…

    cheers,
    tone 🙂

I should note that the 128km/h gusts and 10mm in 4minutes @ Norseman AP on the 30th are quite impressive obs !
