“The Other Duck Pond”

This is another one looking the other way at the boat mooring area in Frances Bay Darwin. a really interesting place to just sit observe the goings on. They will sell you fish and prawns from the days catch straight off the boats so fresh fish was is easy to get hold of.

Yeah I cheated a bit by using a 6 stop ND filter with these pics, I am still surprised at the lack of movement in the boats though as they are just sharp as at full size.
I can’t wait to print one of these suckers nice and big when I get home.

Nice, I like this one, great use of a ND Filter. The Fishermen do the same thing in the UK in places, fresh straight off the boat, can’t beat it. Must have been really still, can you remember how long the exposure was?

The exposures were 5 seconds @f13 Matt, And yeah it was very still. Even when the wind is up a bit up hear the open water stays pretty flat.

Team Digital should be able to get them or PRA.

But I ordered mine from B&H on line Matt. They are pretty dark units and a circular screw on.

    Cheers,

Thanks Mark, but I’ll try and source a Lee first, mind you, can travel a lot lighter with a screw on and it may be way cheaper, even in the long run.

      Hey Matt.

i bought a screw on Singh-Ray vari duo filter. The duo means ND and Polariser in one. The ND is variable from 0 to 10 stops by turning it like a CP and it works a treat. The problem with mine is the polariser on it as well, you have to turn that as is the norm and its tricky to get both of them right. You can buy the Vari ND by itself and thats the way to go, not cheap but its at least 5 filters in one and well worth a look.

i’d lIke to see that! Does that have 2 twisty rings? Sometimes I want a long exposure but want to maintain the reflections but slow down the exposure. the whole idea’s doing mu brain in!

It come from Singh-Ray direct as i said not cheap but pretty handy.

Yes Matt it has 2 twist rings . I ‘d get just the Vari ND by itself if I was getting it again , fair bit cheaper as well.

    Google Singh – Ray
