Gunlom.

This shot was taken early morning at the top of Gunlom Falls ( made famous in the Crocodile dundee movie) in the southern area of Kakadu national park. Around a 70 metre drop from this point with only a couple of speed  bumps on the way down. awesome sight and view from here.

Cool shot Pete – I love the perspective/compositon you have done from up top. It’s a beaut spot. Did you happen to notice if the plunge pool below had many cane toads ? About 2-3 yrs ago a friend and i saw the shallows literally crawling in tiny toads. Grrr ! Another yr we got to encounter this as a raging torrent with a storm dumping 3-4inches up on the plateau there overnight, which made for an awesome experience at dawn ! I should put up an image from it sometime.

    happy travels 🙂

Hi Tony, Not a toad to be seen there now. It would have been something to see the falls in full flight all right, you can see just how much water flows when your up the top and the rocks 4 or 5 metres above the waterline at the moment are polished smooth. Would love to see you photos of Gunlom.

The contrasts in the seasons up there are incredible aren’t they ! The colours on some of those polished rocks up the top of the falls look incredible when wet. Sure I’ll dig it out some day.

        cheers,
